Tinda is a summer vegetable that looks like a green apple but its taste is different. This unique squash-like gourd is native to India and very popular in Indian cooking with curry and many gourmet dishes.

You can sow apple gourd seeds in the spring and summer and monsoon (the best month is February to September).

Apple gourd is a vine plant but can grow easily in 12-15 inches wide and deep pots or grow bags.

Apple gourd seeds germinated within 1-2 weeks at temperature between 25-30°C.

Give regular water during summer days and keep the soil moist. Water only at the base of the plant and avoid watering the leaves.

Tinda needs 6-8 hours of direct sunlight every day. Keep your tinda plant under shade, if the temperature is more than 35°C.

Apple gourd or tinda will take 70-90 days to harvest from seeds sowing. You can harvest Tinda, when it is mature, smooth, and tender.
