How To Protect Basil Plant  In Winter?

During winter, the growth of basil stops, or the leaves dry up and fall. So it is best to keep your basil indoors to protect it from the cold but it prefers the outdoor environment, so follow some tips if you keep basil indoors in winter.

Basil is sensitive to cold and too wet soil can damage its roots, test the soil before moving it indoors. If the soil has compacted, replace the soil.

Choose The Right Soil 

If your basil plant is planted in garden soil, or raised beds, repot it in a pot and keep it indoors.

Pot Up Ground Basil Plant

Check the soil of the pot, if the soil looks dry then water it. The Basil plant needs to be watered every 1 to 2 weeks

Water Indoor Potted Basil

Give Proper Sunlight 

Keep your indoor basil plant on a sunny windowsill, balcony or porch as it needs 6 to 8 hours of sunlight daily.

Prune Your Basil Plant

Prune your basil plant during winter to maintain the regular growth and flavor of its leaves.
