Balsam is an annual flowering plant that thrives in warm climates. Balsam plants produce small, cup-shaped flowers about 1-3 inches across. These beautiful flowers bloom from spring to fall and are best to attract bees.

In India, you can plant balsam from January to February for summer blooms and from May to June for rainy blooms.

Usually, the balsam is planted by seedling transplant method but you can also start it directly.

The size of the pot or grow bag to plant balsam should be at least 12-15 inches deep and wide.

The optimum temperature for germinating balsam seeds is 21-25°C and it takes about 4-14 days to germinate.

Balsam really needs water to thrive, it can grow on hot summer days but will die or not flower without water.

Balsam can grow well in 6-8 hours of full sunlight as well as 3-4 hours of partial shade.

Balsam flowers bloom 60-70 days after sowing and the bloom period lasts for 15-20 days.
